A cognitive-behavioural approach is used with teaching emotion regulation skills being a large component of this type of individual work. Kate has also run groups within the school setting using Tony Attwoods Exploring Feelings programs.

Kate also works with parents and carers to understand their child and to manage challenging behaviour more effectively. Kate trained in the Positive Parenting Program (over 10 years ago) and more recently has been trained in the Stepping Stones Triple P, which is a 10-12 week disability specific program. Kate enjoys working collaboratively with other allied health professionals and school educators so that a shared understanding of the child's strengths and difficulties can occur for the best possible outcome. Kate is passionate about having a positive outlook where living with Autism is concerned and believes diversity is a wonderful thing.

When Kate is not working, she is fine tuning her own parenting skills with her three lively daughters, or playing netball, tennis or reading a good book.
